Perry Community Leaders Announce New Initiative for Sharing Seasonal Updates:
First Perry P.O.W.E.R. Hour Luncheon to be Held Tuesday, May 27th

Perry, May 20, 2025 – Led by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, community leaders are working together to bring the Perry community a platform for receiving seasonal updates on community projects and activities. The City of Perry, Perry Community School District, Perry Economic Development, and the Perry Chamber of Commerce are together hosting the first Perry P.O.W.E.R. Hour Luncheon on Tuesday, May 27th at the Hotel Pattee, 11:30am-12:30pm. A representative from each entity will share updates as a part of a new program series that will take place three times per year.

“Every one of these organizations are doing great things for the community,” says Lynsi Pasutti, Executive Director of the Perry Chamber of Commerce, “and with so many different projects going on right now, we saw a great opportunity to work together to bring people together and to share information so that more people are aware of what’s going on.”

The format of the P.O.W.E.R. Hour luncheon is designed to be information-packed, yet compact. The limited time frame over the lunch hour will keep updates short, but provide a wide overview with multiple speakers.
Each will have approximately ten minutes to present on current Projects, Opportunities, Wisdom, Excitement, and/or Resources, with the goal of sharing information with attendees and the general public.

“Despite our best efforts in getting the word out about ongoing projects, sometimes assumptions and misinformation can be challenging to overcome,” adds Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson.  “This will be a great forum for sharing updates on projects, with the opportunity to answer questions that the community might have.”

Unlike a board or council meeting, public service announcement, or newsletter article, this program series is meant to provide a quick overview of current projects and initiatives, and in a casual setting.  With plans for seasonal updates, additional sessions are being planned in September and January.

“Sometimes when we are so focused on our own operations and internal communications, we forget that we have a bigger story to tell,” says Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks. “We have a lot of folks that care about this community and want to stay connected, so this will be a great way to share information not only with our community partners, but with the community at large.”

A boxed lunch from Pattee Café will be provided to those that register before Friday, May 23rd at a reduced rate of $5, thanks to this session’s sponsor, Minburn Communications.

“If more people are in-the-know, then more people can help share information,” says Jeff Huitt, President of Perry Economic Development. “We have a lot of great things going on and this initiative will be a great partnership to help reach a broader audience in our community.”

Additional information and registration is online at https://business.perryiachamber.org/events/details/perry-power-hour-luncheon-9908 or shortened link https://shorturl.at/jy0z2.

“We live in the information age, yet sometimes it seems like we struggle more than ever to get the word out about events and activities, various resources, different opportunities, and ongoing projects,” adds Pasutti, “so I’m really excited to see where this goes. Each entity has overlapping audiences and their own meetings and communications, but this will be a way to stay informed across the board. I hope people will make the effort to attend, learn something, and help share some positivity.”
